This lovely little painting was painted near Manos, Colorado from the front porch of the old Aspen Ranger Station. In 1997 I received an Artist in Residency at this historic cabin and spent a marvelous week painting the late summer Colorado high country. Each afternoon, as the thunderstorms rolled up from the West, I would retreat indoors to work on the morning's paintings. One day I decided to paint the approaching afternoon showers; the result is shown here. Just a touch of fall in the aspen leaves--peace.
